65th Middlesbrough Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2018
As usual, Trinity Catholic College is joining the Middlesbrough Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, France, during next year’s May half-term break.
Millions of Catholics from all over the world travel to Lourdes every year to witness the place where Our Lady appeared on numerous occasions to the young St Bernadette. Many of the pilgrims are ill, disabled or elderly and through their faith seek the healing strength of the spring waters discovered by St Bernadette under Our Lady’s guidance. We will be part of the Middlesbrough Youth along with many other schools from the diocese, and our students will have a vital role in caring for the sick as well as participating in Holy Mass, processions and other services throughout the week.
The pilgrimage will take place from Friday 25th May until Friday 1st June. Our party will be approximately 35 in number from both Year 10 and the Sixth Form.
Our pilgrimage represents a year-long commitment from each pupil involved. Students who are accepted onto the pilgrimage will be working together all year to prepare for it, and there will be a wealth of opportunity for the Lourdes’ Group to get to know one another, especially at the compulsory Wheelchair Training Day later in the year. This week is one that our young pilgrims will never forget and it will be one of the most spiritually rewarding experiences they will ever have. A major theme of our pilgrimage is ‘Service to Others’ and we hope to bring our students closer to God through caring for the sick and for each other. We know that this week will be a happy blend of pilgrimage and holiday whereby our students will grow both spiritually and socially.
