Sixth form studies pass by very quickly and it’s a big part of our work to help you to prepare for life after Sixth Form. We have an experienced team of personal tutors and once you’ve joined us you will be allocated to one of them. Your tutor will work closely with you to ensure that you develop a clear understanding of the option routes available to you once you’ve completed your Level 3 studies. They will help you to identify your strengths and work out what you want to do next.
Applying to UNIVERSITY
Over 90% of the students attending Trinity Sixth Form intend to apply for university and supporting them in their UCAS application is a key part of our tutorial programme. Each year our students are successful in applying to the most competitive Russell Group universities to study a broad range of courses including Mathematics, English, Bio-medical Sciences, Engineering and Geography.
UCAS support and guidance begins almost immediately when you start Y12. In the first term, Durham University invite you to apply for their prestigious Supported Progression Programme and again we are delighted that every year we have significant numbers of students successful in their application to join this. We have very strong links with The University of Teesside too – all students are invited to enrol on their Passport Programme and many of our students benefit from their ongoing programme of lectures/visits and talks. Most recently our Y13 students have had 1:1 guidance on ‘writing your personal statement’ from one of Teesside University’s admissions tutors. We also have strong links with Northumbria University and all of our students are invited to apply for their Supported Progression programme.
In June of Year 12, we arrange for you to attend the annual UCAS convention where all of the UK universities and colleges are represented. This is an extremely valuable event providing you with information, guidance and advice on what and where you could apply to study. Following this you start your application. You can apply for up to 5 courses and your application needs to be submitted between September and January of Y13. You will start to receive offers shortly after applying and during this time you will have access to guidance from both your tutor, pastoral leader and Head of Sixth Form all of whom have a wide range of UCAS experience.
